2025 Personal Property
Personal Property Taxes are levied against all furniture, fixtures, computers, software, machinery and equipment of business assets. The tax rate is the same rate as applied to taxable real estate. Assets located in Paris on April 1 are taxed in Paris and are required to be reported to Paris. The Assessor’s Office mails a request for a true and perfect list of all business assets in February and the deadline for filing is May 1st. A 30-day extension can be requested by emailing your request to assessor@parismaine.org
Note: Failure to file a true and perfect list of assets bars a taxpayer’s right to appeal his or her valuation for that year, per 36 M.R.S.§ 706-A. If a business does not exist as of April 1, the taxpayer’s failure to notify the Assessor’s Office by May 1st will result in an issuance of a tax bill.

State Property Tax Deferral Program
The State Property Tax Deferral Program is a lifeline loan program that can cover the annual property tax bills of Maine people who are ages 65 and older or are permanently disabled and who cannot afford to pay them on their own. The loan program allows Maine’s most vulnerable community members to age in place and ensures that property taxes are still delivered to municipalities, requiring repayment of the loan once the property is sold or becomes part of an estate.
Please see the FAQ’s document below for more information about the program, including eligibility and how to apply….

Online Property Portal!
The Town of Paris is excited to announce that the Assessor’s Office has stepped into the realm of technology and will be able to offer online services for taxpayers and the public to access the Real Estate Property Tax Cards. This endeavor will be a process that will be rolled out in stages, as we update the data for RE Property Tax cards, including sketches of the properties and pictures. Effective immediately, the site will be available to access current data and property card info, but sketches of the properties and some pictures will be “under construction”. We ask that you be patient as we roll out this new feature, and as property owners, if you are aware of any discrepancies of info that needs to be updated, please contact us and we will gladly work with you to get the accurate data…. we appreciate all your help!!!
You can access all property data via the Online Assessing Data tab.
