The General Assistance program provides financial assistance to Paris residents who are having difficulty meeting basic needs such as housing, utilities and food. The program is funded by local property taxes with a percentage reimbursed from the state.
Each town has a General Assistance Program to help people in emergencies. You may be eligible even if you work or receive other benefits such as: food stamps, veterans’ benefits, or Social Security income.
To request General Assistance, contact the Paris Town Office at 207-743-2501 or stop by the Town Office for an application. You can also use the downloads below. Your application must be accepted for review. You may be turned down for help if you do not meet the guidelines for the program. The application is private and confidential. Prior 30-day bank statement(s) and/or receipts are required as part of your application.
